Writing in a Digital Age

Inspiring Students to Think & Write

Attend the NIWP Technology Institute this summer

Join us for a week long class exploring the technology of digital writing, as well as the research supporting its use in the classroom.

 

The Nitty Gritty Details:

When: July 20 – 24      Time:  8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Where: University of Idaho, College of Education building

What: using digital resources in writing across the curriculum activities

  • Build a blog; Make a Digital Story!

Optimum Grade levels: Teachers of elementary through college courses

Credits: 2-3 credits – undergraduate, graduate or Professional Development (UI credit fees apply)

Ideas for Digital Stories Across the Curriculum

  • History/Social Studies
    • Tell the story of your community – past; present; future?
    • Re-Enact the story of an event from history (perspective)
  • Science
    • Explain an invention or simple machine
    • Relay adaptation to environment from view of animal
  • Math
    • Show and explain geometric patterns in photos from community
    • Explain and show the steps to a complex problem
